ISN’T IT TIME FOR A CHANGE?

Change can be a very pleasant or uncomfortable experience. I believe that it is time to turn the tides and bring positive change back to our Freeport School District. Now is the time and Tuesday, May 21,2002, will be the day. My name is Carmen Pineyro and I am running for the Board of Education. I am asking for your support.

Ask yourself if our schools and community are better off today than they were six years ago. If your answer is no, then change in our district is necessary. Let the facts speak for themselves: Freeport has had three Superintendents and four Freeport High School Principals within the past six years. Veteran staff and families are fleeing our schools. What is wrong with that picture? Why is this happening? I don’t know the answer but if elected, I will find out! It is my intention to work closely with the other board members and come up with positive solutions and yes, sometimes changes. This problem must be addressed and rectified immediately.

As a resident of Freeport and graduate of the Freeport Schools, I have had the opportunity to view issues first hand. I understand the needs and frustrations of parents, educators and students. It is clear to me that we must have changes on our board in order to move forward with the business of educating our children.

On Tuesday, May 21,2002 you can make the difference, go to the polls and vote. We need a new complexion and a new direction. Do the right thing. Do it for the children and our community.

Thank you, Mr. Lilker, for the opportunity to express my opinions on FreeportNYNews.

Respectfully,

Carmen Pineyro
